Since World War 2nd there have been numerous direct and indirect interventions by Uncle Sam to topple the popular democratic governments in various countries around the globe who prove obstacles towards realizing the dream of the Supreme Empire.
John Perkins confesses his role in cheating the leaders of various countries by encouraging them to be a part of the vast network that promotes U.S commercial interests(p-xi).Perkins as an Economic Hit Man(EHM) would convey the world leaders that the world was modernizing and they too need to benefit from the technological revolution and scientific explosion.
The EHM would convey through deceptive and illusionary projects reports of the benefits of initiating such developmental projects which in the long run are going to prove a boon for the economy and progress of the people.The leaders thus convinced would borrrow huge loans from World Bank IMF and other such developmental organizations which would run in trillions and thus became ensnared in the web of debts which then ensures their loyalty towards Uncle Sam,who would then request their "Pound Of Flesh" in favours including access to natural resources,military cooperation and political support.
Ensnaring and Engulfing a country in this vast net involves three steps:
1.EHM's:if they are unsuccessful then,
2.Jackals creep in.They are dark figures whose assignment is to assassinate the leaders who don't scummb to Uncle Sam's wimps as in case of Omar Torrijos of Panama and Arbenz of Guatemala.In case of Iraq's Saddam Hussein both EHM's and Jackals failed then,
3.Direct Military intervention was essential to topple the government.
Perkins has unveiled the ruthless policies and neferious plans of the Uncle Sam to take over the world and ghettoize(Genocide) other people and make their governments execute our orders"If we pursued this strategy,we would continue an Imperialist pattern that had begun long before the Roman empire.We decry slavery,but our global empire enslaves more people than the Romans and all the other colonial powers before us"(205).
The whole World decries that Uncle Sam is the culprit,here is the book which answers why?Perkins gives the real life details how the corporate world in collaboration with the Politicians have taken over the world and intending to expand its sphere of influence.The misfortune of the humanity is that they don't know what is going on behind the screens and they are satisfied with the so called illussionary progress whereas the reality is that the humanity is walking on that path whose destiny is perpetual Slavery.
While accepting the enormous developmental loans,the environment,flora,fauna and the inhabitants are displaced.The flora and fauna becomes endangered or even extinct and the displaced people are engulfed in the viscous circle of poverty as means of their livelihood i.e rivers,forests are lost.These people even then can't stand against these imperialistic designs as everything is said to be done for the betterment of people.
Perkins through his book rips open the fact that all this is done to keep the factories,industries running and per-captia income maintaining at the same pace,but Perkins refers in passingly on fact that the "real war in the next century would not be between Communists and Capitalists,but between Christians and Muslims as predicted by Arnold Toynbee"(P-45).
It would have added a feather in the features of the book if it had delved deep into the causes which lead a nation to believe in apartheid,Gentiles,Goyims and presume themselves as the "God's Chosen Ones".Perkins has joined the long list of Confessionists like Paul Findley author of "They Dare To Speak Out",Victor Ostrovsky author of "By Way Of Deception" who worked for the empire but their inner conscience led them to shun the imperialistic and deceptive approach for a peaceful and humanistic future.
This book is a real,objective and true addition towards understanding the way in which the empire operates.Don't read"Confessions Of An EHM",when you are happy.It will Sadden you immensely.But read it you must -to recognize the value of conscience.
